it's summer days like today when i fall in love with the warm season all over again. what is more perfect than a warm, sunny evening spent on the roof deck with a glass of sauvignon blanc & your fiancee? evenings like this, we go out onto the deck with the intention of just eating dinner out there...next thing we know it's 10 o'clock!!
these are a few images i found via pinterest (which, by the way, i'm becoming obsessssed with!!). although these roof decks put ours to shame, we love it none the less!!
hope you are enjoying this beautiful evening:)

wedding blogs & photos for your viewing pleasure!
lately i have been thinking quite a bit about my wedding! there are two wedding blogs that i check in with on a daily basis for inspiration...
i love the feature on the first link that allows you to view weddings by color or season. in fact, this is exactly how we chose our color pallet! do you have any favorite wedding blogs?
this shade of purple is so gorgeous & looks amazing with the peacock colors...just love it!
i also wanted to share this with you:
last week, i was finally able to get together with some of my former co-workers. the end of the school year is such a crazy & hectic time to coordinate schedules..but we eventually got it right! they were so sweet & gave me this awesome gift! it is a wine bottle filled with a string of lights and personalized with a label reading:
and how stinkin cute are the bride & groom chocolate covered pretzels! they are (almost) too cute to eat!!
and on the book front, i finally made it to the library yesterday & picked up three books. for my summer reading i like fun, easy, light beachy reads. so i am starting with

This slick reimagining of the Pygmalion myth has two wealthy young socialites trying to remake an aspiring jewelry designer in their own image. Julia Pearce, a salesgirl at Pelham's department store in New York, is flustered when she's summoned to bring heiress Lell Pelham her jewels on the morning of Lell's wedding. Both Lell and her best friend (and rival) Polly Mecox spot potential in beautiful Julia, and they decide to help her refine her manners so that she can fit in with their set. At first, Julia is dazzled by the wealth and sophistication of the world Lell and Polly inhabit; but she gradually begins to see the cracks in the perfect facade: the competition between Lell and Polly that simmers beneath the veneer of their friendship, Lell's affair with a rich playboy months after her marriage to handsome Will Banks, and Will's own wandering eye, which has landed on Julia. Karasyov and Kargman's second collaboration is the perfect light spring read, full of biting barbs lobbed at New York's elite. Kristine Huntleyi have read just about the first 50 pages or so & i really like it thus far!

"it's a date!"
first, i must say that i have been using the Moroccan oil from my hair stylist & i absolutely love it. the smell alone made me fall in love! i highly recommend it!
next, i finished reading Gone With a Handsomer Man. it was a very fun, light, mystery...a good beach read with a cliffhanger of an ending. i'm hoping there will be a sequel!
and now on to the fun stuff!!
last night shawn and i attended the "it's a date" expo at the franklin institute. upon arrival we were given free passes for the mummy exhibit, which was really awesome! after viewing the mummies, we went to the expo where we were treated to endless drinks & hor d'oeuvres! we tasted risotto cakes, julienne vegetables, beef tenderloin, different cheeses, olives, fruit, grilled shrimp & baby spinach salad, fresh tuna, miniature philly cheese steaks, lobster clusters, chicken won tons, etc, etc, etc!
while we sipped on our champagne we were able to walk through the many exhibits to gain some info on photographers, florists, event planners, bands, djs, trolleys, honeymoon, invitations, wedding dresses, tuxes, cakes, and unique gift ideas...all while listening to eddie bruce.
they were amazing!
shawn & i are very interested in using secrets for our honeymoon. take a look at these beautiful images!!
we also received some free gifts: a wine stopper, a candle, magazines, and several offers for upgraded rooms or discounted services just for attending last night!
we had the best time! and now let the planning begin!
...speaking of that - we have selected a date (as long as it is available wherever we choose to have our reception) FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2012!
we are so excited to start planning & i'm so excited to be able to blog my experience!
xo,
