making a statement

i have always been a big fan of the jewels - the more the better has always been my motto. i love the look of layering chunky and delicate necklaces (and bracelets!).  also loving the pop of neon with chunky rhinestones.

monday's mood

even though temperatures were unseasonably warm today, i'm still wanting to wrap myself in a big cozy scarf & some sunnies and go hide out in a coffee shop for a few hours....  oh, monday!

friday things

it's the weekend!!! one of the perks of my (somewhat) new job is that my weekend starts at 12:00 pm on friday and consists of only a team meeting.  which, let's be honest here, is actually really fun! so i don't really consider my fridays at work "work"... anyway, with the temperatures really cooling down & it definitely feeling like fall i decided to bake some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies when i got home today.  warning: they are addictive.

you will need:
4 cups all purpose flour (i used whole wheat & there is virtually no difference)
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (i always like to add a little extra)
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 15 oz. can pumpkin
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optionally; i opted out of this one)

directions:
preheat oven to 375 degrees
in a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients.  then add the wet. beat on medium speed until mixed. stir in chocolate chips & walnuts. drop by tablespoons on to greased cookie sheet and bake for 13-14 minutes (until edges are golden).  remove from oven and let cool two minutes before moving to a wire rack to completely cool.. then enjoy!

my tip: before baking, i sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon sugar on the cookies for a little extra sweetness;)

have a fabulous weekend!

{citylove fashion}: a must have.

when i was a little girl i was lucky enough to have unique, handmade, one of a kind knitted pieces from my grandmother. she would not only make me blankets & scarves, but also sweaters & capes. as i'm getting {older} i  am finding myself loving when i see a trend come back around.  but now that i think about it, maybe a cape is a classic?

& kids capes are definitely the cutest of them all!

after seeing these images of capes via pinterest, a cape is absolutely on my Christmas Wish List this year;)

hello november

autumn is in full swing and i am loving the cozy clothing and warm drinks, but not loving how cold it got and how quickly! however, such is the change of seasons, and with last night being halloween & today being the 1st of november, i am quite excited because this is the start of the holiday season!

so, go on & enjoy the last few weeks of brightly colored gorgeous leaves & warm sunshine midday, because before we know it, the ground will be snow covered & we'll be snuggled in for the winter..

have a fabulous 1st of november!

happy halloween!

what a beautiful day for trick or treating! i'm kind of sad that shawn and i do not get any little visitors where we live, but i did see some adorable costumes at school today:) this year, october got the best of us, and we unfortunately did not even get a pumpkin!! so our night involves some homemade chilli, a scary movie (probably Hocus Pocus;) ), and lots of snuggling because our apartment is quite chilly!

happy halloween friends!
